Steps to Work graduate receives 'Shine On' award

At out Steps at Strawberry Field graduation on Monday, we were delighted to honour Steps to Work graduate Dan with Strawberry Field's 'Shine On!' Award.

Created in memory of long-standing Strawberry Field supporter Lisa Graham, this special award recognises graduates of the Steps to Work programme who have shown outstanding resilience, courage and determination.

Dan is a shining example of what it means to embrace opportunity and persevere through challenge. The barriers he faced were never about ability or commitment, but about navigating mainstream recruitment processes and traditional workplace practices that were not set up to see his potential. 

It was not a straightforward journey, but Dan’s positivity has never wavered. With perseverance, encouragement from home and the unwavering support of the programme, Dan has found his place in the job market, proudly working in the kitchen of a prestigious hotel in Liverpool.

Dan thoroughly deserves the Shine on Award as his journey is an inspiration to others and a powerful reminder that with the right support and determination, barriers can be overcome and ambitions realised.
