Liverpool John Lennon Airport support Steps to Work programme
The Steps to Work programme at Strawberry Field helps young adults facing barriers to employment become ‘work ready,’ but it's our Employment Partners who help them gain real-life work experience that translates into confidence and self-esteem. We’d like to celebrate the outstanding support from Liverpool John Lennon Airport, who have hosted three valuable work placements for our Step to Work trainees recently.
These placements provide meaningful, hands-on work experience, enabling trainees to develop new skills, build confidence and strengthen both their personal and professional development. Alongside this, they gain insight into working within a busy airport environment and exploring the wide range of roles involved.
The airport team have shown exceptional commitment by offering not only high-quality workplace opportunities, but also enhanced pastoral care, extended learning experiences and tailored support to help each trainee thrive. We’re especially encouraged that discussions are now taking place around potential job outcomes for two of the trainees, highlighting the real and lasting impact this collaboration has already achieved.
Becci Reid, HR Manager at Liverpool John Lennon Airport, recently visited Strawberry Field to speak with our current cohort. The session was informative and interactive, giving trainees the chance to ask questions and explore future possibilities and it certainly sparked strong interest in potential airport careers in the future.
We’re excited to continue and grow our partnership with Liverpool John Lennon Airport. Through partnering with Steps, Becci suggested her workforce has been able recognise and value moreso, the unique talents skills, and strengths that neurodivergent people bring to the workforce.
Thank you to everyone at Liverpool John Lennon Airport for your openness, and commitment to our mission.
