Learning Hub student supports young people on Steps to Work programme

24 Mar 2026

Through our Learning Hub, we have welcomed Social Work student Anne Marie Howard for a 70-day placement at Strawberry Field. Anne Marie has been working in alongside our Steps to Work team to help deliver the programme to young people experiencing barriers to employment.

“I’ve had a fantastic experience working alongside the young people at the Steps to Work programme as a social work student during my placement. It’s been so inspiring seeing these bright and creative individuals gain confidence, develop new skills and connect with their potential. They’ve reminded me what true bravery is, to step out of their comfort zones and face new challenges, and I trust they have a wonderful future ahead.

I love the person-first approach at Strawberry Field that breaks down barriers and creates real opportunities for these very talented, kind and thoughtful individuals. It’s been such an honour to support them on their journey. I especially enjoyed facilitating a workshop surrounding music and wellbeing for the trainees, focusing on mindfulness and the implementation of emotional regulation in the workplace.

As I watch them take their first steps into the working world, I know I will always look back fondly on the great times we’ve had and the memories made.”
