Things to do in Liverpool between Christmas and New Year

A Twixmas day-by-day guide

22 Dec 2025

The days between Christmas and New Year are the perfect time to slow down, spend time together and make the most of what Liverpool has to offer. Whether you’re looking to get outdoors, keep the kids entertained, or soak up a bit of culture and history, the city is full of great ways to enjoy the festive in-between days.

From peaceful winter walks to iconic landmarks and family-friendly attractions, here’s a day-by-day guide to enjoying Twixmas in Liverpool.

Boxing Day – Go for a Walk

Boxing Day is the perfect opportunity to get some fresh air and walk off the Christmas turkey. Liverpool offers plenty of parks and scenic riverside routes, with beautiful views and heritage trails to explore. There are also several self-guided walking tours available, including Strawberry Field’s Woolton Walking Tour, which traces key locations from John Lennon’s childhood.

27 December – Visit Strawberry Field

A must-visit for history lovers and Beatles fans, Strawberry Field tells the story of the former Salvation Army children’s home that became John Lennon’s childhood playground. The interactive exhibition brings its history and cultural impact to life. Visitors can enjoy 20% off the exhibition by using the code WINTER at checkout. Book your ticket here.

28 December – Visit Liverpool Cathedral

Whether you’re visiting for worship, sightseeing, or one of the Cathedral’s popular roast dinners, Liverpool Cathedral is a wonderful place to spend a winter day. Don’t miss the chance to see Britain’s largest cathedral beautifully dressed for Christmas. Find out more about Liverpool Cathedral.

29 December – Visit Eureka! Science + Discovery

By this point, children may be starting to feel a little restless, making Eureka! Science + Discovery a perfect family day out. Catch their KaleidoLab science show to learn how light travels, reflects, and refracts to create the colourful world around us. Find out more about Twixmas at Eureka!

30 December – Visit Speke Hall

If Christmas has felt like 'go, go, go!' Speke Hall offers a chance to slow down and unwind. This rare Tudor manor house is surrounded by gardens, an orchard, and peaceful woodland, making it an ideal day out for the whole family. Find out more about Speke Hall

31 December – Visit Albert Dock

Albert Dock looks especially magical at this time of year, with twinkling lights reflecting on the water. With work and school just around the corner, treat yourself to a hot chocolate from Francie’s, a pastry from Rough Trade, or a meal that doesn’t involve leftover turkey. As it’s New Year’s Eve, restaurants will be busy - be sure to book in advance. Find out more about what's at Albert Dock.

Finally, remember that it’s absolutely fine to do very little during Twixmas. The run-up to Christmas can be exhausting and expensive, so putting your feet up and enjoying some well-earned rest is just as important.

Whatever you choose to do, we hope you’ve had a wonderful festive break. We look forward to welcoming you to Strawberry Field very soon and helping you continue exploring the best of Liverpool all year round.
