Fresh Expression shines light into the darkness with 'Pumpkins of Peace'

Every Friday afternoon, Fresh Expression's 'Hang Out Friday' group meet to play games, craft and enjoy some quality time together.

As part of The Salvation Army, Strawberry Field doesn't celebrate Halloween, but that doesn't mean our group can't take part in some pumpkin carving! Instead, they carved their pumpkins with messages of love and peace, and put them on display by our gates in celebration of all that is good.

Gareth, from our Fresh Expression pastoral team, said, "Our Friday sessions are a great opportunity to enjoy some time together and get creative. Sometimes we draw, sometimes we build with Lego and in October, we carve pumpkins! It's a fun activity that everyone can get involved with and a chance for us to celebrate light, faith and hope at a time where we need it most."

Fresh Expression is a Christian Community of spiritual exploration, retreat and pastoral care. We provide a place where you can take time to rest and be refreshed in the company of others, whether that's at weekly prayer, ukulele group or at a 'Hang Out Friday' pumpkin carving session!

You do not have to belong to a Christian church - or any religious tradition at all - to take part in what we offer here. Everyone is welcome.
